A logo can cost anywhere from $0 all the way up to thousands of dollars. We’ll explain how to determine the price that’s right for you. Typically, for a small business, a logo costs anywhere between $100 to $1500.
Make sure you establish your budget before paying for a logo. We’ve set up average logo costs in tiers so that you can see what you get for each price point.
Why did we say that logos can cost $0? Because you can make one yourself! The absolute cheapest price is free. You can use online software like Canva to try and create your own logo. The downside is that if you don’t have design experience, it will be a bit like shooting in the dark.
If you have some skills with Illustrator, you may be able to pull it off yourself. However, you’ll be missing the experience and expertise of a professional logo designer.
There’s a lot that goes into creating a great logo. Truly memorable logos have often undergone several phases and tests before being chosen.
- Upside: Free
- Downside: Sub-optimal results

If you’re on a very small budget but don’t trust yourself to make a logo, try Logo Maker. Their online logo generator is free to try, but it can cost up to around $50 to purchase the actual design.
The issue you’ll run into with Logo Maker is that it provides you with very generic logos. If you have experience in the design industry, you might be able to refine the design and make it work. However, if you don’t have design experience, you may find the logo to be missing something.
- Upside: Cheap
- Downside: Generic
Freelancers are another option for designing logos. Some freelancers will charge a lot more than others, but generally, you should be able to find a freelancer willing to create a logo for under $300.
It’s difficult to know which freelancer will deliver the results you’re looking for. However, you can assess them with a few qualifications. For example, you’ll want to check their portfolio thoroughly. The scary thing is that some freelancers will actually copy logos from another website and claim it as their own. This can be very disappointing, and it’s difficult to know for sure beforehand.
- Upside: Very affordable
- Downside: Unpredictable results

If you work with a freelancer, there is a bit more unpredictability involved. However, if you have a great vision for what kind of logo you’re looking for, working with a freelancer might be sufficient.
If you’re looking for a more interesting logo with dynamic patterns and/or fonts, you’ll have to upgrade to around this budget. At this level, you should have more options to choose from. The designer may provide you with multiple options for the logo so that you can choose the one you like the most. You can also expect more leeway in terms of creativity and edits.
This is the sweet spot for those that have a budget, but aren’t swimming in money. With this budget, you can expect to get a pretty good logo without going broke. While your experience can vary from freelancer to web design company, you can definitely get an awesome logo with Revision Agency.
If you’ve got a strong budget and are willing to spend whatever it takes to get the ultimate logo, this is the kind of budget you’re looking at. Usually, spending this much money gets you a team of designers that understand every nuance of shapes, colors, and lettering. Agencies that charge thousands of dollars for a logo tend to be out of a small business budget.
No matter what budget you have, there is a way to get a logo. Even if you don’t have a budget, you can use certain software and websites such as Canva to try and create your own. To get a truly exceptional design that actually appeals to your audience, we recommend establishing a decent sized budget to get started.
